👊 Meet Shannon
Shannon Villegas is a freelance graphic designer deeply rooted in the trail and outdoor community—blending creativity with purpose in everything she touches. From designing trailhead maps for the Arizona Trail to coaching young riders alongside her husband through RioZonora Coaching, she’s built a life that revolves around dirt, miles, and people.
Her entry into mountain biking? A breakup—and a decision.
“I’m going to be good at this.”
She went all in and never looked back. What keeps her coming back is simple: exploring the outdoors, pushing herself, and soaking in what she calls God’s amazing creation.
đźš´ Trail Life
Shannon doesn’t pick favorites—she embraces the full ride.
Favorite Ride:
“Oh geez. There is so much good stuff throughout the state! For sentimental reasons, I’ll say—give me a piece of the Arizona Trail, and I’m a happy girl. I met my amazing husband on the AZT, and have so many priceless memories with friends on it!”
Ride Time: Both—sunrise and sunset
Style: Earn your turns—climbs + descents
Crew or Solo: Both (depends on the day)
For Shannon, riding mirrors life—you need the hard stuff to truly appreciate the good.
🔥 Doing Cool Sh*t
Recently, Shannon took one of the high school athletes she’s coached for four years on a brutal one-day stretch of the Arizona Trail as her senior “epic” ride. The kind of experience you don’t forget.
Biggest accomplishment?
👉 Completing the Arizona Trail Race—a self-supported bikepacking grind that tests everything you’ve got.
What’s next?
👉 Vapor Trail 125 in Colorado this September.
🤝 Community Matters
Shannon shows up—plain and simple.
Whether it’s coaching student-athletes, leading girls rides, or donating her design work to trail organizations, she’s all about giving back and building people up.
Right now, she’s inspired by Ron—a local legend in his 80s who climbs the steepest, most technical trail in the neighborhood every single day with a smile.
“What excuse do I have?”
⚡ Rapid Fire
Ride Snack: Dates
Playlist: No music—just wind and breath

đź’¬ Real Talk
“Earn your turns. The good stuff is always better because of the hard stuff.”
