👊 Meet Maycie
Maycie Pruett is an 18-year-old student on the edge of graduation, stepping into a future that blends aviation, service, and purpose.
She’s headed toward a degree in aviation business administration, with a bigger goal in mind—taking those skills overseas as a Christian missionary. Her dream is to support missionary pilots with the behind-the-scenes work that keeps them flying, fixing, and serving communities around the world.
“I’ve always wanted to be involved in aviation overseas in some way… and this is something I see myself enjoying and hopefully being good at.”
On the bike side? Her story started at home, riding because of her dad. But loving it took time.
“I actually hated it with a passion for several years.”
That changed in 8th grade after her first real race. Something clicked. From that point on, she was all in.
đźš´ Trail Life
Maycie rides for the feeling—the effort, the challenge, and the reward on the other side.
Favorite Ride:
“I have so many favorites! But I think right now one of the absolute best trails are at the Bean Peaks Gravity Flow Trails in Prescott.”
Ride Time: Early mornings (most of the time)
Style: Fast descents > climbs (even though she admits she’s a stronger climber)
Crew or Solo: Both—crew is more fun, solo still has its place
For Maycie, it’s about the thrill: big rocks, steep lines, and that post-ride feeling of “that hurt like crap, but I did it anyway.”
🔥 Doing Cool Sh*t
One of Maycie’s standout recent rides was a big one—Picketpost to Kelvin on the Arizona Trail.
She tackled it in March with friends and her coach, Shannon Villegas.
“That was literally one of the hardest rides I’ve ever done, but it was gorgeous.”
Hardest rides tend to leave the biggest impressions—and this one did exactly that.
Other highlights include multiple varsity wins during her high school racing career, plus simply getting through that AZT stretch intact.
Right now, her goal is refreshingly simple:
👉 Stay fit
👉 Keep riding
👉 Don’t let life get too busy to forget the bike
A real challenge as she heads into college life.
🤝 Community Matters
Maycie keeps it humble when it comes to giving back—jumping in where she’s needed and helping with whatever odd jobs come up.
But when it comes to inspiration, she’s surrounded by it.
Her dad, who’s always made time for riding—even when it means dropping everything and driving out for a 30-minute ride.
And Shannon Villegas, her coach and mentor on the bike, who’s taught her to stop racing everyone and just enjoy the ride.
“I’ve been guilty of being so competitive… but Shannon is so laid back and casual on the bike, and I’m trying to be more like that.”
